Brian Kelly is a partner at Covington & Burling LLP, a global law firm specialising in life sciences. Brian has a particular interest in the microbiome and personalized nutrition/therapy, and advises a range of different clients on matters impacting the sector, including borderline classifications (food, drug, cosmetic etc), R&D, health claims, novel food assessments, reimbursement, Nagoya, regulatory exclusivity. He is an experienced advocate, and represents clients before international regulatory bodies in relation to life science policy matters. He was also the lead lawyer in a pan-EU challenge in the EU courts on the validity of the Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation and the approach taken with probiotics. Mr. Kelly combines his legal practice with academic teaching. He is an honorary lecturer at University College London.
