Robert is a Principal Scientist in the Health, Nutrition & Care unit of DSM-Firmenich and responsible for clinical research in the field of gut health and microbiome solutions. He earned his PhD in Nutrition and Gastrointestinal Physiology from ETH Zurich followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Adelaide, Australia focusing on gastrointestinal motor and hormone functions related to metabolic health. Robert joined DSM-Firmenich in 2014 specializing in dietary fibers & pre, pro and postbiotics and has held several key roles including R&D Segment Lead for Gut Health and Global Science Lead at Biocare Copenhagen, an affiliate of DSM. In addition to his work at DSM-Firmenich, Robert is a part-time senior research fellow and Privatdozent (lecturer) at the University of Zurich and serves as co-chair of the scientific committee of the International Probiotic Associations (IPA). Robert has co-authored >65 peer-reviewed publications and more than 15 patents.
