Katherine is a Human Frontier Science Postdoctoral Fellow and Future Foods Initiative Co-PI at ETH Zurich. Her postdoctoral research implements CRISPR-based systems to uncover bacterial mechanisms underlying host health, with an emphasis on nutrition. Katherine completed her PhD in Neuroscience at APC Microbiome Ireland, where she explored how microbes influence hippocampal neurogenesis throughout the lifespan. Notably, her research demonstrated that transferring microbiota from young to old mice restored various aspects of health in the aging brain.
