Lars is Professor of Pediatrics, Chair of Collaborative Human Milk Research, the founding Director of the Mother-Milk-Infant Center of Research Excellence (MOMI CORE), as well as the Human Milk Institute (HMI) at the University of California in San Diego. He has been working on human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) for over 20 years and has secured over $35M in research funding. Lars has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles on HMOs, including the 2012 review “Human Milk Oligosaccharides: Every Baby Needs a Sugar Mama”, which has become the most cited research article in the field of HMOs.
